The Retail Banker is responsible for delivering retail banking services to customers and maintaining operational efficiency within the office. Responsibilities vary based on experience and may include relationship building, office management, and supervising team members. This role plays a key part in supporting the bank’s growth and service excellence, while upholding compliance with policies and regulations. The Retail Banker Level will be assessed based on multiple criteria.
PositionResponsibilities
- Handle transactions accurately, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, account inquiries, and issuing official checks and money orders.
- Process and maintain Safe Deposit Box service requests.
- Perform end-of-day balancing and ensure operational accuracy across all transactions, including ATMs and coin machines.
- Manage customer accounts, assist with disputes, stop payments, and wire transfers, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Proactively identify customer needs and provide appropriate solutions (e.g., deposits, loans, and other services).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by offering personalized service and referrals to relevant bank solutions.
- Assist in the opening and maintenance of both personal and business accounts, ensuring accurate documentation and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with teammates to resolve issues and troubleshoot when needed.
- Support the Office Manager in achieving operational goals, including cash management, deposit growth, and customer retention.
- Help promote and sustain a deposit growth culture within the office through active customer engagement.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal banking regulations, including security protocols.
- Supervise and mentor Retail Banker staff, guiding them through daily tasks and addressing office operations. (Retail Bankers III, IV, and V)

- High school diploma required; additional education in banking or finance preferred.
- Experience in retail banking or customer service, with increasing responsibility based on multiple factors.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient computer knowledge & ability (Windows, Word, Excel).
- Attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Work is normally performed in an office environment.
- Must be able to lift or carry 25-pound bags of coin.
- May operate office equipment necessary to perform job function.
