Nursing Assistant or -Train​/Trainee, Med Surg; Summer Temp

Purpose of Position

As a member of the Nursing Team, Nursing Assistants assist Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Primary duties and responsibilities include courteous interaction with patients, customers, clients, and employees; providing assistance with transport, patient care, and facility operations; and communicating with RNs to ensure quality patient care.

• Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Identify and locate needed accessories to facilitate transport.
• Answer call lights.
• Make beds both empty and occupied.
• Set up all equipment routinely used on home base units.
• Prepare room for admission.
• Assist with patient discharges.
• Remove linens.
• Answer telephone.
• Wear facility-provided identification badge.
• Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co‑workers.
• Facilitate communication to RNs to provide the best care possible for patients.
• Perform other work‑related duties and activities as assigned or requested by the immediate supervisor.

• Transport patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Take vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and non‑invasive specimen collections.
• Turn and position patients; perform range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
• Assist with all ADL’s and complete care as needed.
• Set up, assist, and educate patients with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, venodyne boots, crutches, and specific precautions—input from PT as needed.
• Appropriately empty and/or record all drainage devices.
• Perform post‑mortem care.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Apprenticeship Program.
• Program includes a classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program, on‑job training, and must be completed within 6 months of hire into the Trainee role.
• Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program, the incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will‑Train program.
• Successful passage of the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistant.
• Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will‑Train program, the incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00333.

• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
• • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program.
• • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• • Successful completion of an EMT Program.
• • Successful completion of an LPN Program.
• • Equivalent clinical Military experience.
• • Completed at least one year of an accredited Nursing School Program.
• • Successful completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will‑Train or Trainee program.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Successful passage of CPI training within 6 months from hire and must maintain recertification annually.

SUMMER TEMP, 48PP (24 hours per week), Rotating Eves, 3 p‑11 p, Every Other Weekend & Rotating Holidays (Med Surg Routine).
