Position Summary
The Swartz lab at the MBL seeks a highly motivated individual to join the Eugene Bell Center for Regenerative Biology and Tissue Engineering as a Postdoctoral Scientist. The candidate will work on an NIH funded project to understand how developmental polarity arises in developing oocytes, which leads to the specification of body axes in the embryo, using the sea star Patiria miniata as a research organism.
This interdisciplinary work will involve cell biological, microscopy, mass spectrometry, and CRISPR/Cas9 approaches.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in cell biology, developmental biology, or another related field. Prior experience with sea stars is not required.
Preferred QualificationsIndividuals with experience with invertebrate animal models, microscopy, and knowledge of body axis development are encouraged to apply.
Physical RequirementsMinimal work with hazardous chemicals. Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
