Operations Manager
This position serves as a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist-Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer (ACSCO) for the VA Health Care System. The incumbent is responsible for developing and integrating supply chain operations, including planning and coordination with fiscal, acquisition, clinical, and administrative functions at the Fargo VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Specialized ExperienceTo qualify, candidates must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS‑11) in the Federal Service. This experience must be directly related to the duties of this position and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist. Specialized experience should include leading as a supply chain management leader, ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met, planning, coordinating, and evaluating operations to enhance supply chain effectiveness and efficiency.
Key areas of knowledge and skill should encompass acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non‑expendable equipment, warehouse operations, and budget formulation and forecasting. Candidates should also have experience leading and/or managing a diverse group of professionals. One (1) full year of work is considered to be 35‑40 hours per week; part-time experience may be credited based on actual hours worked.

Applicants must complete a Supervisory Situational Judgment Test. The SSJT evaluates judgment and decision‑making skills aligned with organizational values and best practices. The assessment is not timed but is expected to take 45 minutes or less. Results may be used during the evaluation, ranking, and referral process. A minimum proficiency cut score is not required; however, each item must be answered.
ExperienceRequirements
Experience includes paid and unpaid positions, including volunteer work through National Service programs such as Peace Corps, Ameri Corps, and other professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, or social organizations. Volunteer experience builds critical competencies and may be credited toward qualifications.
Physical RequirementsWork is primarily sedentary but requires visits to warehouse and storage areas, loading docks, and other facilities. The office setting is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated and requires adherence to safe office practices.
