Job Summary
The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the oversight of gym operations to ensure an exceptional "Judgement Free" member experience as well as a financially successful club. Primary duties include recruiting, hiring, training, and developing staff, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, overseeing front‑desk activities, managing staff scheduling, ensuring superior customer service, resolving employee issues, and supporting club operations such as facility cleanliness, supply ordering, and statistical reporting.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing staff (Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians).
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere for members, prospective members, and guests and ensure staff follows superior customer‑service guidelines.
- Assist with staff management and provide backup support to the Club Manager.
- Simplify scheduling, supervise staff, and provide backup support for any absent employee.
- Oversee member service and ensure a superior customer experience at all times.
- Resolve or escalate employee issues or concerns.
- Perform all front‑desk related activities, including answering phones, checking members into the system, processing new member sign‑ups, touring prospective members, and facilitating member requests, issues, and questions.
- Assist in overseeing facility cleanliness, maintenance, and ordering supplies within the allocated club budget.
- Track and report statistics on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Superior customer‑service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.
- Experience as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.
- Strong supervisory, diplomacy and listening skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).
- Hard‑working, enthusiastic, and energetic.
- Strong problem‑resolution skills.
- Current CPR certification required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Continual standing and walking during shift.
- Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional exposure to toxic chemicals.
