Overview

The North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) invites applications for a Diagnostic Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist. This is a non‑tenure track position in a fully accredited diagnostic laboratory and NAHLN member. Pathology board certification or eligibility and a DVM degree or equivalent are required. The applicant must also have experience with a quality system. Preference will be given to those board‑certified (ACVP or ECVP) individuals with an interest in an additional related diagnostic specialty area.

Candidates who have finished residency and are studying for boards will be considered.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include rotation in the VDL necropsy and biopsy services. Supervision as a section head is also possible based on interest and experience. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to diagnostic service and will accurately interpret and communicate pathology and ancillary test results to clientele, participate in the laboratory’s quality system, help teach visiting interns and externs, and perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory director.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical to the position. Opportunities for collaborative research and teaching exist. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum qualifications
