Position PurposeA Student Engagement Coach and Evaluator is an experienced educator whose work focuses on refining teacher instructional practice. The essential role of this position is to support student engagement implementation and sustainability with schools, classroom teachers, and admin by providing coaching, certification, consultation, and data collection to determine impact. This includes mentoring new teachers and coaching veteran teachers through co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, observing classroom practices, and facilitating professional development sessions.
The coach also collaborates with teachers to address student learning needs. The Student Engagement Coach and Evaluator will be hired, placed, and work closely with the K-12 Classroom Engagement Facilitator and monitored by the Director of Standards-Based Instruction in consultation with the Assistant Superintendents Elementary and Secondary Education.

Examples of this work include:
- Support implementation of FPS Strategic Initiatives and Instructional Frameworks; serve as liaison between district leaders, school teams, and external partners.
- Contribute to and communicate progress on district-wide educational goals.
- Collaborate alongside teachers and staff to co-plan, model, co-teach, observe, and provide feedback on core instruction and interventions to refine teaching strategies to better meet the needs of all students.
- Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and other professional development activities focused on improving teaching skills and pedagogical knowledge for the learning of all students in the building.
- Act as a peer to directly model best practices and build stronger relationships with teachers.
- Coach on and evaluate foundational Catalyst strategies or techniques with the primary goal of empowering teachers to become more effective and conscientious instructors.
- Coordinate/arrange focused live site visits as needed.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
- Provide opportunities for in-field coaching to provide feedback to resident Catalyst coaches.
- Support student engagement sustainability by providing coaching and certification for all staff district-wide.
- Data Analysis and Program Evaluation

Examples of this work include:
- Analyze district and school data to design, implement, and assess the impact of district and school initiatives.
- Support and evaluation programs and strategies that address diverse student needs and equitable access.
- Monitor and support instructional improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in education.
- Valid North Dakota Teaching License.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Catalyst Coaching experience.
- Experience beyond the Catalyst Whole Group Leadership training.
- Participant in the Catalyst Demonstration Project
- Certification in the Catalyst Foundations.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and classrooms.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Completed the Catalyst Demonstration Project
- Level 1 or Level 2 Catalyst Coach.
- Ability to interpret and analyze data.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and individuals.
- Experience in using assessment results to guide instruction.
- Knowledge of research and best practices in instructional design and differentiating instruction.
This position reports to:
Director of Standards-Based Instruction.
