Position Purpose
A MTSS Tutor provides academic or behavioral interventions to support and deliver direct services to students under the direction of a certified teacher or other licensed employee. This classification is generally assigned to work with small groups of students needing tier II or III interventions.
Responsibilities- Instructional Support (Essential, 80% of time)
- Provide instructional support and monitor students, individually or in small groups, to practice and reinforce learning concepts and help them reach academic or behavioral goals.
- Maintain classroom supplies, materials, and records to ensure availability of items and satisfy mandated requirements.
- Observe, monitor, and record student performance and behavior; assist in assessing learning needs and implementing instructional plans; recommend improvements.
- Assist in managing and improving student behavior, including crisis intervention.
- Attend meetings with lead teacher or interventionist to discuss student progress, participate in training, and adjust groups.
- Professional Development (Essential, 10% of time)
- Maintain, acquire, and expand position‑related theory and technical knowledge.
- Complete required certifications and training courses within specified time frames.
- General Support (Secondary, 10% of time)
- Perform routine clerical duties and maintain records, copies, and files.
- Provide student supervision indoors and outdoors, including lunchroom, bus stops, playground, classroom, field trips, and assemblies.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and general staff meetings.
- Provide physical care for students to address immediate safety concerns or direct appropriate personnel.
- Respond to emergency situations such as injuries, fights, or school drills.
- Assist students with hygiene tasks and provide care for those with diverse specialty health needs.
- Assist with transportation needs, including loading/unloading wheelchair‑bound students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Experience working or volunteering in a school setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
Title I buildings may require additional education or certification. Paraprofessional Certification will be required prior to hire for Title I positions.
BenefitsBenefits Eligible. Full‑time, 9‑month schedule, Monday–Friday. Salary Range:
Group 3, $18.61 to $22.23.08 per hour.
