Job Summary
Long‑Term Substitute – Grade 3 at Deer Creek Elementary School. The substitute covers the absence of the classroom educator and delivers instruction, manages classroom activities and behaviors, and supports student learning.
Job Details- Location: Deer Creek Elementary School
- Department: Curriculum & Instruction
- Reports To: Building Principal
- Term: Approx. March 27, 2026 – remainder of the school year
- Schedule: M‑F full‑time following academic hours
- Salary: Daily rate $228.99; $130 bonus after 10 full‑time substitute days (not required consecutively)
- Develop positive relationships with learners and staff
- Engage with district staff in the professional learning community
- Communicate instructional purpose, procedures, and routines clearly
- Deliver direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice
- Use questioning and discussion to promote critical thinking
- Empower learners as critical thinkers and ethical users of information
- Resolve controversy and conflict respectfully
- Collaborate with team members to enhance learning experiences
- Provide creative, authentic assessments aligned to standards and learning targets
- Maintain composure under stress and proactively address learning gaps
- Manage planning, instruction, and grading of elementary content
- Implement district curriculum, behavioral plans, and standards
- Create a safe, equitable classroom environment
- Maintain records of learner progress according to district protocol
- North Dakota Substitute Teaching License required
- North Dakota Teaching License preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred, especially in an elementary setting
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple English instructions
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment
- Regular and punctual attendance required
- Reach with hands and arms regularly
- Stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear frequently
Vision: close and peripheral - Lift up to ~30 pounds as needed
- Work with public and staff while managing competing demands
- Potential rare contact with blood borne pathogens
- Noise level ranging from quiet to loud
