This job posting is for a Long‑Term Substitute – Special Education Teacher at Deer Creek Elementary School.

Building Principal

Schedule

Monday–Friday, full time following the academic hours of operation.

Salary

Full daily rate: $228.99. 10‑day bonus after completing 10 full‑time substitute days (not necessarily consecutive). Bonus paid on the next payday after the 10th day.

Summary

The Long‑Term Substitute covers the absence of the classroom educator while providing instruction, assistance, and classroom management in a Specialized Program/Resource Room. Responsibilities include delivering instruction, collecting behavior data, updating teachers on progress toward goals, and supporting other tasks as needed.

  • Compassion: Empower learners to be critical thinkers and ethical users of information; understand cultural and global issues; resolve controversies respectfully.
  • Creativity: Share ideas with team members; use creative thinking to solve challenges; design assessments aligned with standards and learning targets; foster a growth mindset.
  • Critical Thinking: Analyze information to generate new knowledge; demonstrate subject matter and pedagogical knowledge; connect key concepts.
  • Reflection: Understand diverse social, emotional, and developmental needs; maintain communication with supervisor and director.
  • Resilience: Stay composed under stress; initiate solutions to address knowledge gaps.
  • Responsibility: Plan, instruct, and grade elementary school content; use district curriculum and behavioral plans; meet learner needs; maintain progress records; apply federal and state education laws; create a conducive learning environment.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.
  • Require close and peripheral vision.
  • May lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Work with the public and staff while managing competing demands.
  • May encounter blood borne pathogens or bodily fluids infrequently.
  • Environment ranges from quiet to loud noise levels.
Education And/Or Experience
  • North Dakota Substitute Teaching License required.
  • North Dakota Teaching License preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in an elementary school setting preferred.
Language Skills
  • Read, write, and comprehend simple English instructions.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and expressively.
Other

Skills And Abilities
  • Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.
  • Adhere to the assigned work schedule with punctual attendance.

  • None.
