Capstone Classical Academy is seeking an Upper School Latin and Theology teacher. As a uniquely Christian ecumenical school, our community includes families from Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant traditions. We are looking for an educator who can bring the Latin language to life for these students, and teach through a robust theological curriculum that respects, balances, and articulates both the profound commonalities and the distinct differences among the three traditions of the Christian faith without proselytizing for one over the other.
Our Upper School faculty members are called to cultivate wisdom, eloquence, and a deeply rooted Christian worldview. Your responsibilities will include:
Theological Stewardship: Teaching Christian theology from a perspective that honors our shared historic creeds while carefully, accurately, and respectfully navigating the distinct nuances of Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant theology.
Classical Language Instruction: Teaching Latin grammar, syntax, and literature, helping students unlock the great texts of the Western and Christian tradition.
Worldview & Discipleship: Guiding our students to love the truth, think critically, and grow in Christian charity toward those with differing theological convictions.
An Ecumenical Bridge-Builder: You possess a deep knowledge of Church history, historical theology, and the specific tenets of the Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox traditions. You have a proven ability to teach these nuances objectively and respectfully.
A Classical Scholar: You have a strong command of the Latin language and a love for and familiarity with the Great Books.
A Mentor: You understand the intellectual and spiritual questions of middle and high school students, and you can lead them with grace, joy, and objectivity.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theology, Classics, Church History, or a related field.
Active, faithful membership in a local Christian church (Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox).
A clear commitment to the classical model of education.
