Engineering Technician II
Location: Fargo, ND
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The Engineering Technician II supports design engineering with prototype bring?up, PCB assembly troubleshooting, testing, debugging, and advanced diagnostics. This role combines hands?on electronic work with detailed documentation and technical communication.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and perform failure analysis on electronic assemblies.
- Research, gather, and summarize data for root?cause investigations.
- Rework and repair electronic products per standards.
- Build test harnesses, fixtures, loads, and circuit boards for engineering development.
- Document work performed and update test documentation for prototype products.
- Conduct manual testing of PCBs and circuits.
- Design and build advanced engineering test boxes.
- Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify design or process issues and support corrective actions.
- Train other personnel as required.
- A.S. in Electronics, two?year technical diploma, military certification, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in electronics, engineering, or manufacturing (3+ years preferred).
- PCB troubleshooting experience with ability to identify root cause.
- Understanding of electronic components, test equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and datasheets.
- Ability to assemble/disassemble and repair lab equipment and electronic components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and computer skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- 3+ years of PCB troubleshooting experience.
- Fine?pitch SMD soldering ability.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or advanced test equipment.
- Experience with 3D printers or PCB layout software.
- Ability to machine or modify materials (aluminum, steel, plastics, fiberglass).
- Familiarity with John Deere components or machinery (a plus).
