The Test Engineer role focuses on supporting product testing and validation by conducting lab tests, analyzing results, and assisting with test planning for power electronics–based products. The position works closely with cross–functional design teams to execute test procedures, document results, and ensure products meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements while developing technical and problem–solving skills under guided supervision.
Key Requirements- Gather and format test requirements from internal and external customers with assistance from others. Review and provide proper feedback about the requirements.
- Perform and oversee, with assistance, the performance of power electronic Product Verification and Validation testing performed internally or externally.
- Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of testing results and schedule progress. Communicate results and schedule progress to internal and external customers.
- Employ troubleshooting and debugging strategies; determine root cause with support from others and provide support in troubleshooting.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Work closely with other project team members as needed to ensure the testing is performed as specified in the product specifications.
- Travel as needed to accomplish the tasks required of this position, including meeting with customers to generate and/or revise concepts and product requirements. (Travel could be 1 or 2 times a year and would always be in the USA. No international travel.)
- Support other needs of the department as needed.
- Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Ag Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited engineering program or equivalent.
- Understanding of the basics of embedded controllers
- Understanding of safe higher voltage practices
- Understanding of motor control and system testing
- Understanding of the basics of design validation
- Good written and verbal communications skills (English)
- Good organization skills (multi–tasking)
- Good customer service skills
- Experience with product development
- Understanding of motor control software (PU2)
- Experience with dynos
- Experience with development and debugging tools (e.g. Oscillo Products, multi-meters, etc.)
- Experience with microcontroller peripherals and systems (e.g. PWM outputs, boot loaders, A/D converters, serial and parallel interfaces, etc.)
- Experience with communication networks (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/485, etc.)
- Experience with communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO
11783, TCP/IP, etc.)
