At Ackerman Estvold you will play a vital role in designing and enhancing the critical infrastructure that propels our communities forward. Collaborating with senior transportation leaders and multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a variety of transportation projects, including roadways, highways, bridges, airports, and transit systems. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a mid‑level engineer eager to deepen their technical skills while leading project tasks that will visibly impact both urban and rural areas.
Key Responsibilities- Develop transportation plans
- Prepare construction documents
- Analyze traffic flow patterns for safety improvements
- Coordinate with contractors and public agencies
- Conduct site inspections to ensure design accuracy and contribute to technical reports and proposals for clients
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline with strong emphasis on transportation
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification required, with expectation to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within 12 months or already possessing a North Dakota PE license
- 3–6 years relevant experience in transportation or civil engineering design and consulting
- Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D and Open Roads Designer
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities
- Capacity to analyze and model traffic flow patterns and develop innovative solutions for infrastructure challenges
