The Opportunity
The Lead Systems Integrator designs, develops, and commissions advanced electrical control systems, with a focus on integrating PLC and HMI systems for efficient operation and communication. Lead systems integrators are responsible for maintaining project schedules and ensuring the quality of project deliverables. Mentoring and collaboration with engineering teams is essential to ensure system compatibility and enhance substation efficiency.
What You'll Do- Review and create, maintain, and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other project documentation, providing learning opportunities for junior team members.
- Review, design and integrate PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems for renewable energy automation applications while providing learning opportunities for junior team members.
- Perform and review the work for the integration of substation systems and devices, including protective relays, RTACs (Real‑Time Automation Controllers), and communication networks.
- Lead testing and mentor junior team members to troubleshoot electrical control systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Oversee and perform on‑site field commissioning activities, such as system installation, device power up, and network troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Assist others in obtaining up‑to‑date knowledge and ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and safety regulations, including NERC CIP.
- Help others learn and understand new technologies and programming techniques.
- Lead large technical and multidisciplinary projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Advanced experience applying electrical systems, control systems, and automation concepts.
- Advanced experience with PLC programming and HMI design. Efficiency in more than one programming language (Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, or Structured Text).
- Demonstrated experience designing and/or troubleshooting fiber optic networks.
- Strong experience interpreting electrical schematics, including single‑line diagrams and P&C drawings.
- Strong experience with HMI design, development, and commissioning.
- Proven application of automation, integration, and system protection principles.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to mentor others in a technical field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong experience with more than one PLC platform (e.g. Schneider Electric, SEL RTAC, Allen Bradley).
- Strong experience in Inductive Automation's Ignition platform.
- Strong understanding of common industrial communications protocols including Modbus
TCP and/or DNP
3. - Strong understanding of 3‑phase power generation control principles.
- Strong knowledge of implementing Automatic Voltage Regulation Schemes including setpoint, power factor, and voltage control.
- Ability to read, interpret, and implement Power Purchase Agreements and LGIAs and translate into control schemes.
- Knowledge and understanding of voltage regulation concepts and ISO specific requirements.
- Willing to travel 25‑35% of the time.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in U.S.
- Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and related technologies.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity in industrial control systems.
- Strong experience tuning PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control loops.

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $111,200 - $150,400
