The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking talented and motivated Design Engineer level candidates to join our Grid Modernization team. This position is responsible for the development and execution of our Medium Voltage Distribution Grid Modernization work.

What You’ll Do

The ideal candidate has excellent problem‑solving skills; uses advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices to complete complex project assignments. They will adapt and modify standard techniques to solve multifaceted problems and provide expert consultation for the design, development and implementation of technical plans and systems used to help clients develop and implement Grid Modernization solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient project execution
  • Serve as the primary client contact to define project scope and gather detailed requirements
  • Develop capital construction plans that support grid modernization initiatives
  • Design and implement technical solutions to address client distribution system challenges
  • Perform distribution‑level planning studies to evaluate system performance and identify improvements
  • Produce high‑quality deliverables, including:
    • System study reports
    • Consultative reports
    • Capital construction planning documents
    • Cost‑benefit analyses
    • Construction specifications
  • Partner with clients to create customized solutions addressing distribution grid issues and advancing modernization goals
  • Provide detailed oversight of QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy and consistency of team deliverables
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school
  • Minimum of 2 years with EIT certification engineering experience or minimum of 4 years without EIT certification engineering experience
  • Experience with Distribution Modeling Software (i.e. Cyme, Synergi, Windmill) is required
  • Previous experience working for a vertically integrated Utility is preferred
  • Maintains positive client relationships
  • Independently completes assigned tasks
  • Actively manages individual workload
  • Effectively assists in training and mentoring team members
  • Responsible for reviewing project drawings, calculations & specifications
  • Demonstrate a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Collaborate with multi‑discipline team to ensure project success
  • Must be analytical, self‑motivated, and possess the ability to work in a team environment and a variety of situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients and external agencies
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
  • Experience with GIS applications is preferred
  • Highly driven toward team success and professional growth
  • Ability and drive to mentor less experienced engineers
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US

Compensation

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $93,800-$126,900
