As a Lead Engineer, you will manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on municipal projects from planning through design and construction. You will independently manage projects and collaborate in design and development of project plans and specifications while mentoring team members. You will also contribute to marketing and business development activities.
Typical Tasks and Duties- Provide professional engineering services: studies, planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction administration, observation, and project management.
- Communicate frequently with clients, supervisors, and project team members, providing updates and progress during all phases.
- Attend company, project, and client meetings as needed.
- Lead proposal preparation and participate in client interviews to secure work for the firm.
- Make independent, rational judgment calls.
- Direct engineering technicians and team members on project plans and specifications.
- Coordinate with other engineering teams on complex multi-discipline projects.
- Follow company employee handbook and safety policies.
- Perform duties with a strong attention to detail and ethical conduct.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
- Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
- Travel and out-of-town stays may be required; overtime may be required during construction season.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering – required (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer license preferred or ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
- 7+ years experience as a Civil Engineer in the municipal field.
- Experience preparing civil design drawings, specifications, and cost opinions for water/sewer utilities, roadways, drainage.
- Experience working with local, county, or state agencies.
- Strong project management skills.
- Construction management experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, self‑motivated, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Flexible working style and willingness to adjust schedule to meet deadlines or client needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows/Office products.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil‑3D, Microstation/Geo Pak, Sketch Up Pro, or Arc Map GIS is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Operates a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Works outdoors during construction season.
- May require prolonged periods of standing and walking for observation or surveying.
- Must lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Schedules and required hours must be met.

Base Salary Pay Range
: $95k - $130k (Actual base pay is dependent on experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.)
