The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking a Civil Design Engineer for the Renewables department. The selected candidate will engage with Ulteig's civil, structural, and electrical design teams and our clients to provide innovative design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction of renewable projects. The primary focus for this role will be the development of construction documents for the civil design scope of utility scale wind generation projects.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Apply current engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks, and support other civil, structural, and electrical design workflows as needed.
- Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that are accurate and in accordance with industry engineering practices.
- Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality.
- Plan and accomplish project goals using experience and judgment.
- Resolve design challenges, including field investigations and resolving discrepancies between multiple information sources.
- Perform design computations related to the civil site design.
- Maintain a value‑engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
- Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and disciplines.
- Work closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solutions.
- Demonstrate creativity, out‑of‑the‑box thinking, and design ownership.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (or equivalent) is required.
- Civil Engineering‑In‑Training (EIT) registration is required.
- 2–4 years of civil engineering experience, with at least 1–2 of those in design and development of renewable energy projects preferred.
- Understanding of large‑scale site grading design, additions to existing civil designs, and earthwork calculations is required.
- Familiarity with erosion and sediment control applications and temporary stormwater treatment techniques is desirable.
- Experience performing detailed design of renewable facilities with complex topographic, environmental, and non‑participating infrastructure constraints is desirable.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.

Target base compensation range for this role is $79,100 – $107,000. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job‑specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role, and comparison to other employees in this role.
