Your opportunity as a civil engineer in training in our community development group, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse land development projects.
This position involves working collaboratively with design teams in the development of construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing cost estimates; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the project manager or project engineer.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project.
- Perform data analysis and calculations to analyze and design civil system components.
- Collect data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
- Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your capabilities and credentials include:
- Strong foundational understanding of general concepts of civil engineering design.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs and other similar materials.
- Good communication skills, attentiveness to detail, and multi-tasking ability.
- Willingness to learn new skills and interface with multiple project managers.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, One Note, and One Drive.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of related professional work or co-op/internship experience preferred.
- Engineer-in-training designation, successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting preferred.
