Designer - Renewables; Civil - Solar

Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Designer – Renewables (Civil – Solar) role supporting the land development of Solar projects. The selected candidate will collaborate with Ulteig's civil, structural, and electrical design teams and our clients to deliver innovative, forward‑thinking design solutions that support the development, design, and construction of Solar projects across the country.

• Work with the project engineer to complete detailed civil design solutions on projects as assigned.
• Apply industry design standards on development projects and coach others on the team.
• Utilize prior design experience to proactively address potential design issues.
• Help the team develop and refine design and drafting standards for projects.
• Practice efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection.
• Work closely with other engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
• Design primarily within AutoCAD Civil 3D with an emphasis on road layout, mass site grading, earthwork takeoffs, stormwater and erosion and sediment control plans.
• Demonstrate a wide degree of creativity and independence.
• Effectively communicate and interact with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
• Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.

• Associate or technical degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 6–8 years of progressive experience to a civil engineering technician role with 3–4+ years of experience in design of large land development projects required.
• Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
• Proficiency at large‑scale site grading design, additions to existing civil designs, and earthwork calculations is required.
• Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills.
• Must be analytical, self‑motivated, and possess the ability to work in high‑pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Target base compensation range: $38.00–$51.50 per hour.
