Job Summary

Lead surgical services at Sanford Health Fargo Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, with oversight of the OR, PACU, and ARU. Drive operational excellence and quality outcomes through collaboration with clinical and executive teams. Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the organization’s nursing personnel and for implementing strategies that support the vision, mission, and goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and assist with the implementation of medical and health services and programs within surgical departments.
  • Establish appropriate levels of care and ensure high standards and quality in healthcare are met.
  • Advise medical staff, department leaders, and administrators on nursing service and strategy matters.
  • Participate in task forces, committees, board meetings, etc., to assist with overall organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop trusting relationships with personnel, clinical professionals, and inter‑professional departments to drive project and process improvement strategies.
  • Lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward personnel in accordance with human resources and personnel management processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA).
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience and two years prior management/leadership experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care.
  • Current unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practicing; multistate licensure accepted if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Required department‑specific competencies and certifications; additional certifications encouraged.
