## Description

Summary:

Manages approximately $37M MPCI and Crop/Hail Insurance portfolio and develops further growth opportunities.  Works with AFBIS, captive and independent agents to develop tools and programs to support future growth.  Works with internal actuarial staff to identify trends, monitor results and manage fund designations.  Finally, assists AFBIS in identifying training and education opportunities with both captive and independent agents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Perform a wide variety of functional activities intended to increase the production and service efficiency of those crop agents in various regions across the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
* Direct sales and service assistance to crop agents’ insurance specialists by providing prospecting and fact-finding help, fact analysis recommendations, drafting yield/ acreage reporting for all clients, claims preparation and servicing, and closing and installation of crop insurance applications.
* Assist in the training and education of crop agents in the technical information and sales techniques applicable to the crop insurance markets, by partnering with MGA’s training and development staff.
* Assist in analyzing existing agent policies with the express purpose of quality control for crop insurance business.
* Maintain a working knowledge of not only the federal crop insurance and Crop-Hail programs, but also general agricultural topics and/or issues that may affect the team or policyholders.
* Coordinate meeting and event planning, including preparation for training sessions, expos, trade shows and conferences. Assist in the design of sales training programs and materials.
* Keep technical knowledge current by participation in advanced educational programs and by studying current publications to keep abreast of recent developments affecting crop insurance sales.## Qualifications

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor’s degree; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* 5+ years of experience in crop insurance sales, training, underwriting, or agency management.

Required Knowledge and

Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software;
Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Works to develop solutions to problems. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. An individual must possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Works under pressure and shifting priorities to achieve corporate goals.  Work Environment:
The work environment is typical of an office setting, where the employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds. The environment described reflects the conditions an employee would generally encounter while performing the essential functions of this role.

Up to 25% travel to visit agents and crop specialists.
