Job DescriptionThe Technician will provide hands‑on technical support to manufacturing and production teams, ensuring assembly equipment, automation systems, and processes operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role partners closely with Manufacturing and Factory Automation Engineers to troubleshoot issues, support new builds, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across final assembly operations.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide real‑time technical support to production teams by diagnosing and resolving issues related to assembly tools, automation equipment, processes, and products. Take initiative to resolve problems quickly with minimal supervision, and identify root causes to prevent recurrence. - Automation & Equipment Support:
Support the installation, setup, wiring, programming, documentation, training, and maintenance of assembly and automation equipment, including build fixtures, torque tools, conveyor systems, PLCs, and robotics (Fanuc/UR). Create and update MWIs and JDAAT programs, including labeling and final packaging. - Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Support:
Act as the Engineering representative on Final Assembly Continuous Improvement teams, supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives that drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity. Assist with line layout improvements, time studies, labor standards, fixture design, and prototype builds while supporting ISO 9001 compliance efforts.
- Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a two‑year technical diploma.
- Equivalent military certification or equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in electronics, manufacturing, or engineering.
- 7+ years of related experience preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with hands‑on experience identifying root cause.
- Experience with hand soldering, PLC programming, and robotics (Fanuc preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret advanced engineering documents, schematics, and diagrams.
- Basic understanding of PLC controls (Studio 5000, ladder logic) and ability to learn quickly.
- Experience working with ERP and manufacturing systems (e.g., ERP, Agile, EMES).
- Ability to assemble/disassemble products and prototypes and perform intermediate mechanical work.
- Ability to train and direct technicians and operators.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to research, document, tabulate, and summarize technical data.
- Familiarity with PFMEA review and participation preferred.
