Job Title

Screen Assembler / Production Associate

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling and producing window and door screens in a fast‑paced production environment. You will use your hands and basic hand tools to build screen casements, cut and fit mesh screens, and ensure every product meets precise measurement and quality standards before it moves further down the production line.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble window and door screen frames and casements primarily using your hands and basic hand tools.
  • Measure all screens carefully with a tape measure to confirm that all sides and dimensions meet exact specifications.
  • Work from written work instructions and work orders to produce frames and screens to the correct size and configuration.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, such as rubber mallets and utility knives, depending on the department and task.
  • Create casements in the door department by snapping pieces together and occasionally using a rubber mallet to secure components.
  • Produce multiple casements at a time during larger production runs to support high‑volume output.
  • Measure and cut mesh screens accurately using a utility knife once the casement has been assembled.
  • Insert and wedge the mesh screen between casement pieces so it is fully enclosed before quality checks.
  • Prepare completed screens for quality control review and transfer to the next stage of the window production process.
  • Maintain consistent production speed, aiming to produce a screen approximately every 30 seconds after training.
  • Participate in cross‑training across 3–4 different departments and adapt to varying tasks as needed.
  • Handle light lifting of screens and move efficiently along the line while standing and working at a bench throughout the shift.
  • Pay close attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements, proper assembly, and adherence to all production and safety procedures.
  • Work independently while understanding that your output directly affects colleagues further along the production line.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately to at least 1/8 inch, with a strong preference for accuracy to 1/16 inch.
  • Ability to pass a tape measure test during the interview process.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and work orders to produce frames and screens to the correct size.
  • Strong hand and wrist strength, with the ability to build and maintain forearm and wrist endurance over time.
  • Comfort using hand tools such as utility knives, rubber mallets, and other basic tools in a production setting.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and maintain consistent output, including producing a screen approximately every 30 seconds after initial training.
  • Comfort standing and moving for the entire shift while working at a bench.
  • Attention to detail in measurement, cutting, assembly, and quality checking.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a production team.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
  • Experience with assembly line work, construction, carpentry, or similar hands‑on roles is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with reading and working from written instructions, work orders, or basic blueprints.
  • Comfort with tape measures, measurement tools, and hand tools in a production or construction setting.
  • Competitive mindset and motivation to perform efficiently, as efficiency‑based pay may be available after becoming permanent.
  • Flexibility and willingness to cross‑train and work in multiple departments as needed.
  • Experience with packaging, production builds, or screen cutting is an advantage.
Work Environment

This is a clean, well‑lit production environment where you work primarily on a shop floor at a workbench. You will stand and move for the entire shift while handling very light lifting of screens. Some areas near saws can be noisy, so you should be comfortable working around typical production noise. Training on the line is brief—about 15 minutes—after which you will move quickly into full production, aiming to produce a screen every 30 seconds in a fast‑paced setting.

You will typically work independently, but your output…
