The Development Manager is responsible for growing and strengthening BIO Girls' community of supporters by building trusted relationships with mid-level individual donors, business sponsors, and qualified prospects. Through strategic portfolio management and data-informed fundraising, this role connects donors with opportunities to make a lasting impact through BIO Girls while driving sustainable philanthropic growth.
The Development Manager manages a portfolio of approximately 250–300 donors, sponsors, and prospects, implementing scalable cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention strategies that deepen donor engagement, increase giving, and identify future major gift opportunities. This frontline fundraising role combines relationship management, strategic use of donor data, and revenue accountability to build a healthy and growing pipeline of philanthropic support. Success in this role is measured by donor retention, portfolio growth, revenue generation, sponsorship renewals, and the ability to move donors toward deeper philanthropic engagement.

They are energized by opening doors, building relationships, and creating opportunities where others see obstacles.
They are equally comfortable initiating conversations with new prospects, confidently making direct asks, leveraging data to inform fundraising strategy, and cultivating authentic, long-term donor relationships.
The Development Manager collaborates closely with the Chief Development Officer, development team, board members, and volunteers to advance BIO Girls' fundraising strategy and long-term sustainability. This position may be remote, hybrid, or office-based depending on the candidate's location and organizational needs. Depending on location, up to 50% travel may be required. This is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Chief Development Officer.
- Build trusted relationships with donors by understanding their philanthropic goals and connecting them with meaningful opportunities to create lasting impact through BIO Girls.
- Actively manage a portfolio of approximately 250–300 individual donors, business sponsors, and newly qualified prospects.
- Proactively identify, qualify, and engage new individual and corporate giving prospects through research, networking, referrals, and community engagement.
- Develop and execute scalable donor engagement strategies that strengthen donor acquisition, retention, and growth across the portfolio.
- Own and achieve annual revenue goals for individual giving and sponsor ships through strategic donor and partner engagement.
- Leverage donor behavior, giving patterns, wealth screening, and CRM insights to identify philanthropic opportunities, prioritize cultivation efforts, and guide fundraising strategy.
- Maintain accurate and timely donor records, cultivation plans, opportunities, and next steps in Salesforce to support effective portfolio management and organizational fundraising efforts.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including donor retention, upgrades, sponsorship renewals, pipeline health, and revenue progress, using insights to refine fundraising strategies and improve results.
- Represent BIO Girls with professionalism and enthusiasm in the community, cultivating relationships that expand awareness, strengthen partnerships, and generate new philanthropic opportunities.
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer, development team, board members, and volunteers to develop and execute effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Collaborate across the organization to align fundraising efforts with programmatic priorities and deliver an exceptional donor experience that advances the BIO Girls mission.
