Reporting to the Client Services Supervisor, the Refugee School Impact (RSI) and Youth Mentoring (YM) Program Coordinator leads the implementation of both programs. The coordinator will promote civic and social engagement, foster academic success, and support individual educational and vocational advancement for ORR-eligible refugee and immigrant children and youth within communities served by Global Refuge. This position helps young people and their families successfully integrate into their schools and communities through mentorship, educational support, and community engagement initiatives.
Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), is a nonprofit serving newcomers seeking safety, support, and a share in the American dream. We walk alongside individuals, families, and children as they begin their new lives in the United States through our work in refugee resettlement, care for unaccompanied children, and economic empowerment and employment.

Responsibilities/Duties- Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate, client-centered, and trauma-informed support to youth and families.
- Conduct initial assessments to identify educational, social, and vocational needs and goals.
- Develop individualized plans to address those needs through coordination with schools, educational and vocational services, and community resources.
- Collaborate with schools, teachers, and administrators to support refugee students' academic progress and integration.
- Coordinate after-school, tutoring, and enrichment activities that promote academic success and social inclusion.
- Refer youth and families to relevant community services and facilitate access.
- Recruit, screen, and train mentors, especially those from similar cultural backgrounds to provide positive role models and guidance for youth.
- Partners with higher education institutions, job training programs, and community organizations to build pathways for youth advancement.
- Document all client interactions, services, and activities in compliance with program and funding requirements.
- Collect and report program data, success stories, and outcomes for both RSI and YM initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with community partners, volunteers, and school staff to ensure effective program delivery.
- Participate in outreach events and presentations to raise awareness and recruit participants and mentors.
- Compile and submit programmatic and grant reports as required.
- Bachelor's degree in education, public policy, economics, social sciences or related field or three years of experience providing community engagement, case management and/or social services preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of refugee resettlement systems, or other relevant cross cultural experiences a plus.
