The Registered Nurse in the Clinical Care Leader (CCL) role facilitates health care services for patients in cooperation with the health care team. Facilitates communication and provision of information and messages to produce clarity and impact. Leads collaboration across teams to break down silos, coordinate work, and solve problems as one team. Builds relationships with other teams, provides feedback to members of the health care team, and uses the nursing process to deliver individualized care.

Collaborates with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Utilizes age- and population-specific standards in designated clinical settings. Cares for patients through preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Coordinates care, patient assessment, education, triage, and various nursing interventions. Functions within the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice. Aligns with Sanford Professional Nursing Practice standards and the ANA Code of Ethics as the foundation of care delivery.

The CCL demonstrates competency in RN skills, ensures employee safety, assumes leadership in high-risk situations, coordinates clinical activities, and acknowledges impact on budget through staffing. Uses critical thinking to coordinate patient care and manage emergent situations. Intervenes when unsafe practices are identified and assigns patients based on staff competencies and patient needs. Communicates effectively to negotiate and resolve conflicts with peers, inter-professional colleagues, patients, and families.

Serves as a mentor and participates in committees and Peer Review processes. Engages in learning and development resources and adheres to age-related patient care protocols.

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred in Fargo, Fargo Network, Bemidji, Sioux Falls Network and Rapid City. Required in Bismarck and Sioux Falls (Sanford USD Medical Center and Clinics).
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
• Minimum of two years’ clinical experience preferred.
• Currently holds an unencumbered RN license where practice occurs; multistate licensure if in an NLC state.
• Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications (certifications may be required by specialty).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of employment.
