Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – 6‑month assignment, PM Shift (8‑hour shifts)
3:00 PM – 11:30 PM shift; 40 hours per week; works every other weekend and every other holiday. Assigned rate $65 per hour, with no benefits or additional compensation for temporary employees. Prior entry or employment at Prairie St. John’s disqualified. Upon completion may receive offer for regular full‑time or part‑time position at hourly rate based on experience.
EssentialJob Duties
- Able to assess, plan, intervene, teach, discharge and document on patients and families appropriately based on diagnostic, cultural and developmental issues; serve as a role model and teach staff to provide the same continuum of care.
- Continually floats in the building monitoring units and hospital floors; serves as resource to other staff and treatment team; effectively interprets and clarifies policies and procedures for unit‑based staff; exercises sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Effectively monitors and ensures proper and adequate staffing during shift by referencing unit acuity; provides direction to staffing coordinator, rearranges existing staffing, places staff on on‑call status, or mandates overtime as needed; assures nursing staff get appropriate breaks; assists in unit coverage as needed.
- Effectively identifies, intervenes and addresses all performance issues and seeks input from, updating the Human Resources Director.
- Plans, develops, implements, administers, assesses, and maintains departmental objectives, goals and operations.
- Assists the Director of Nursing with the coordination of daily operations.
- Monitors and ensures that on‑call psychiatrists and physicians accurately reflect patient’s needs and any lab, tests, or other documents which need to be reviewed; follows up on patient status and progress and addresses concerns with appropriate personnel.
- Responds in a timely manner to any medical, psychiatric and environmental emergencies; provides leadership; collaborates on maintenance issues, dietary issues, laundry issues, security issues, general administrative issues and receives assistance as needed.
- Provides coverage for Needs Assessment including ability to cover call center, perform a physical assessment/triage or psychiatric assessment; knowledge of involuntary hold process and ability to complete the process for assessment, documentation and application for emergency hold.
- Performs quality management monitoring by performing assigned audits, education, mentoring as directed by Nursing Administration; follows up in a timely manner on the completion of occurrence reports and PIP data collection and communication.
- Current license to practice nursing in North Dakota (or eligible to receive or renew).
- At least one year of RN experience.
