An RN who works in all areas of the Children’s Hospital:
Pediatrics, Pediatric Day Unit, Pediatric ICU, and NICU. Staff members fill unit needs resulting from increased census or acuity, vacations, and medical leaves. The nurse must be flexible and intelligent as assignments vary daily. The RN also serves as the Children’s Hospital Rescue Nurse, responding to pediatric rapid response, trauma codes, and code blues, and provides nitrous oxide for procedures.
- Collaborate with inter‑professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and age‑ and population‑specific standards.
- Provide preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up as patients progress along the continuum of care.
- Plan and coordinate care, perform patient assessment, patient education, triage, and other nursing interventions.
- Function within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and state administrative rules.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program (AACN, ACEN, NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs and/or possess multistate licensure if in an NLC state.
- Obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
