Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and the eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office after review of the application.
Former EDRP participants are not eligible.
- English Language Proficiency – Must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
- Education – Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by an accrediting agency (ACEN or CCNE) at the time of completion.
- Or enrolled in a master’s level bridge program in nursing that includes coursework equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Nursing; must become licensed or be qualified prior to completion.
- Licensure – Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a registered nurse in any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Foreign‑educated graduates must have a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized evaluation agency such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD).
- Preferred:

- Provide competent, evidence‑based nursing care to assigned CLC residents, overseeing LPNs and NAs as appropriate.
- Support nursing education, orientation, competency validation, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Partner with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe and effective care transitions.
- Apply biopsychosocial concepts and technical proficiency in everyday nursing practice.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident‑appropriate nursing care.
- Administer medications and perform clinical procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve care outcomes.
- Consult with MDS nurses to ensure accurate RUG scoring when necessary.
- Employ critical‑thinking skills, seeking guidance as needed to support high‑quality patient care.
- Must maintain mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatory compliance with all applicable regulations – first‑class care, quality metrics, and safety standards.
