Job TitleRegistered Nurse – PACU
LocationFargo, ND
Schedule / Job TypeContract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days (majority of hours 0700–2300, occasional nights, varied weekend rotation; 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts available; backup call rotation with approximately 2 weeknights per month and up to every 4th weekend)
Key Responsibilities- Provide post-procedure care for patients across all surgical specialties, including adults and pediatrics (averaging 5–15 pediatric patients per day)
- Care for high-acuity patients including those from ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology settings
- Utilize Epic for charting, Acu Dose medication dispensing, Philips monitors, ventilators, and BiPAP equipment
- Maintain ASPAN nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 2:1 across an 18-bay and 14-bay Phase I PACU (two floors, same staff)
- Participate in backup call rotation and potential floating between campuses for Phase I PACU coverage
- Active North Dakota RN license
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in an acute hospital setting
- Experience in a large hospital (250+ beds); outpatient surgery center experience alone is not sufficient
- Ability to care for both adult and pediatric patients, including high-acuity cases
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications — all must be American Heart Association (AHA)
- Critical Care or ICU nursing experience
- Familiarity with Epic EMR and Acu Dose medication dispensing systems
- Work in a high-volume, Level I Trauma Center environment with exposure to a broad range of surgical specialties and patient populations
- Structured orientation program including basic hospital and unit orientation with a dedicated buddy RN for onboarding support
