American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring 2 years of recent large-hospital experience and an active ND or compact RN license.
Details- Acute care Level 1 trauma center setting on a Med Surg Oncology unit (6S/7S)
- 6S has 16 inpatient oncology beds and 7S has 12 inpatient hematology/bone marrow transplant beds, with additional beds in remodel
- Cares for medically complex hematology/oncology patients requiring blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3 for chemotherapy/BMT patients and 1:4-6 for regular oncology patients depending on shift
- 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No on-call requirement and will not work alone
- Floating required to other Med Surg units at Broadway with potential floating to other Fargo Med Surg units at Med Center or South
- Uses EPIC EMR, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, language line, and zebra phones
- Active ND or compact RN license required
- Active BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds required
- Experience in a busy Level 1 trauma center required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Travel experience highly preferred
- Inpatient oncology experience preferred, with hematology and bone marrow transplant experience a bonus
- Must be willing to float to all Med Surg units/locations within Fargo as needed
- Perform head-to-toe assessments, administer medications, communicate with the interdisciplinary team, and update patients and families
- May be assigned to administer chemotherapy if trained
- 8 hours of classroom training followed by 24-36 hours of unit-specific orientation
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers may be considered if they meet experience requirements
- Candidates who previously worked for the health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Candidates living 60-80 miles from the facility are eligible at a reduced local rate
