Cass County Vector Control in West Fargo, ND is hiring full-time Seasonal Vector Field Aide Leads to supervise mosquito control crews during the summer months. This is your chance to gain management experience, work outdoors, and contribute to public health in a meaningful way!
Starting pay for our Seasonal Vector Field Aide Lead is $21.34/hr at Step 1, with opportunities to advance to $22.36/hr (Step
2) and $23.38/hr (Step
3) based on experience in mosquito control or biological fieldwork and knowledge of pesticide handling.

As our Seasonal Vector Field Aide Lead, you'll supervise one of four seasonal crews to ensure effective mosquito mitigation across Cass County. This role promotes health and well-being in an environmentally sensitive manner by reducing nuisance mosquitoes, lessening the threat of disease transmission, and maintaining a historical database for disease management. Key duties include educating the community on mosquito reduction strategies and delivering the highest level of mosquito control service through integrated pest management practices: surveillance to identify problem areas, larviciding to treat standing water, and adulticiding using backpack and truck-mounted ground spraying.
This is a seasonal, full-time role with shifts typically running Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:45 PM. Occasional evening shifts may occur, but are rare. Expect 40-hour workweeks throughout the season.
YOU MIGHT BE A MATCH IF YOU MEET THESEQUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- 18+ years of age
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and walk on uneven terrain
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Experience in the following is beneficial but not required
:
- Post‑secondary coursework in biology or a related science field
- 1 season of mosquito control experience
- Management experience
- Training/coaching experience
- ATV/UTV riding
- Pesticide handling/applying
- Spray equipment operation
- Insect research
- Sampling standing water for larval mosquitoes
- Applying pesticides in various environments
- Operating trucks, ATVs, and UTVs for pesticide applications
- Separating and identifying mosquito species from traps
- Maintaining records and equipment
