The EHS Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing the environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations, reduce workplace hazards, and promote a safe and sustainable working environment. This role requires a deep understanding of EHS regulations, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to maintain safe and compliant operations.
Your role in our team- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify safety and environmental risks in the workplace.
- Lead the effort to obtain and maintain ISO 45001 certification, ensuring the development and implementation of an OHSMS that meets all standards and requirements.
- Lead the development and delivery of safety training programs to ensure employees are well‑informed about safety procedures and regulations.
- Advise on safety policy development and updates while coordinating emergency drills across campus locations.
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections of facilities to ensure adherence to safety policies, environmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Work closely with management to develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials to maintain compliance with environmental standards.
- Monitor and track environmental performance, including waste management, air quality, and energy consumption.
- Maintain and update records related to safety, health, and environmental performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address and resolve EHS issues, ensuring a proactive approach to workplace safety and sustainability.
- Stay up to date with changes in local, state, and federal EHS regulations and ensure company policies and practices remain compliant.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on safe work practices and environmental stewardship.
- Support management with EHS‑related projects as needed.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
- Have proven experience in EHS management or a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Have experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Have experience with environmental sustainability programs and initiatives (preferred).
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) or environmental certifications (e.g., LEED, REA) is a plus.
- Have in‑depth knowledge of EHS laws, regulations, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and local safety regulations.
- Have a strong understanding of environmental protection principles, including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability.
- Be a self‑motivated professional with the ability to manage multiple EHS projects in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrating strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to safety and environmental challenges.
- Have keen attention to detail, solid knowledge of environmental monitoring tools, industrial hygiene practices, and EHS software platforms, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization.
