Position: Assistant Manager
Hours: 40 Weekly

Assistant Manager
As Assistant Manager, you bring Lush’s Leadership Practices into all elements of your business interactions with customers, fellow staff and operations:

The ASM supports the Shop Manager as needed in all business areas and, as delegated by their Retailer, as second-in-command, will pick up Manager duties to support a strong customer experience, staff experience, shop operational excellence, and exceeding sales goals.
ResponsibilitiesSales & Customer
Experience:
- Customer Service: collaborate with your team on plans to exceed daily sales goals and ensure a unique and inclusive customer experience that makes every visitor feel welcome and meets their needs.
- Building the Brand: educate our customers and staff on our brand values, and articulate our position on Fighting Animal Testing, Freshest Cosmetics, Ethical Buying, 100% Vegetarian, Handmade, and Naked Packaging in the shop and through community engagement.
- Product Passion: increase product knowledge through ongoing learning and provide informed product recommendations for every need.
- Driving Sales: understand metrics, budgets, and reports and influence results through on-floor behaviors to deliver profitable outcomes.
Team Leadership:
- Lead Fearlessly: support the team on the sales floor, answer questions, remove obstacles, solve problems, and motivate them to meet sales goals.
- Grow Talent: develop your own skills, seek feedback, and coach the team to improve engagement, performance, and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices.
- Be Real: communicate needs and feedback openly and adapt to business needs.

engage the team to be inspired, motivated, and connected to brand values. - Recruitment and Selection: assist in staffing with active networking, recruitment, hiring, and succession planning in your markets.
- Staff Development: collaborate on plans to improve staff engagement, retention, performance, and DEIB practices.
Operational Excellence:
- Policies and Procedures: support the manager to maintain a compliant shop and ensure staff follow standards for opening/closing, product integrity, respectful workplace, health and safety, and daily communication; stock and inventory management to meet product needs within budget.
- Visuals and Merchandising: support development of a clean and engaging store environment consistent with merchandising standards.
- Scheduling, Time and Attendance: ensure appropriate staffing at peak times and accurate breaks and meals for staff wellbeing and payroll accuracy.
Required:
- 1-3 years managing or supervising in a retail environment
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong customer service, supervisory and sales skills
- Knowledge and interest in skincare, natural beauty and ethical business
- Ability to work flexible hours including holidays, evenings and weekends
Preferred:
- Experience with consultation-based customer service models
- Ability to develop and train staff through positive coaching and feedback
- Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Suite, and adaptable to other systems
- Basic HR skills in hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management
- Experience in cross-cultural collaboration and DEIB or social justice training
- Fluency in Spanish, French or other languages
