Overview:
The Store Development Retail Planner position will be responsible for shop development position will work in an energetic environment and display prompt & effective action in analyzing retail design trends, purchasing (fixtures & materials), and leading fixture development for existing stores. This position will work closely with the SD Team, Line Leaders, store associates, and contractors to provide the best planning and implementation of fixtures and shop development in our existing stores.
Responsibilities:
Fixture & Shop Development
- Collaborate with corporate teams, line leaders, campus groups, contractors, and architects on store development, major projects, and remodels
- Manage fixture design, development, and space planning using AutoCAD
- Serve as the primary liaison to fixture manufacturers and vendors; regularly meet with suppliers to learn about new trends and capabilities
- Review supplier pricing, negotiate contracts, and competitive shops to set Scheels apart from competitors
Project & Operations Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and execution plans, revising as needed to adapt to changing requirements
- Make informed, operational decisions to optimize store functionality and efficiency
- Complete assignments with a high sense of urgency, meticulous attention to detail, and a focus on overcoming obstacles to finish projects
- Serve as an effective team leader, setting high standards, demanding excellence, and maintaining strong, positive relations with corporate and store associates
- Promote a team-oriented environment that fosters pride in execution, openness to constructive feedback, creative problem-solving, and clean, organized work spaces
- Exercise honest judgment, tact, initiative, and accountability across all levels of the organization and external vendor partners
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills; self empowered with exceptional time management, follow-through, and organizational skills
Location: Corporate Office in Fargo, ND
Travel: Approximately 20+ nights per year for store visits, site visits (remodels/expansions), and vendor meetings. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Schedule: Must be flexible to work between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday (with nights and weekends as needed), averaging 50+ hours per week
