Business Development Advisor - Culinary

Position Summary The Business Development Advisor plays a key role in driving company growth through customer relationship development, strategic business planning, and collaboration with the sales team. This position works closely with customers and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, remove barriers to sales, and deliver solutions that support customer success and long-term business growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Vice President of Sales to establish business development objectives and create strategic plans to cultivate profitable customer relationships, including geographic territory planning, customer presentations, and customer visits.

Maintain a strong understanding of the market, including customer needs, competitive activity, and seasonal trends.

Identify new business opportunities, emerging markets, and industry trends; partner with the sales team to leverage insights that drive revenue growth.

Meet regularly with prospective and existing customers to understand operational needs, identify challenges, and recommend solutions that support business objectives.

Introduce profitable product offerings, innovative solutions, and new technologies to customers and sales team members.

Conduct customer consultations and recommend menu solutions based on customer goals, budget considerations, operational capabilities, and industry trends.

Analyze customer menus and operational processes to identify opportunities that improve profitability, inventory utilization, operational efficiency, and overall business performance.

Serve as the subject matter expert for customer-facing software applications; provide training, guidance, and best practices to sales leaders and team members.

Coordinate and support customer and company events, including sales meetings, customer appreciation events, trade shows, and other business-related functions; attend events as required.

Deliver exceptional customer service in all interactions and model customer-focused behaviors that strengthen relationships and support business growth.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction and successful implementation of business solutions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

Professional presentation, communication, and consultative selling skills.

Ability to identify and resolve business challenges through strategic problem-solving.

Knowledge of food service, distribution, hospitality, or related industries strongly preferred.

Proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and customer-facing technology platforms.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to travel within assigned territory and attend company-sponsored events as needed.

Must have auto insurance and able to clear MVR, drug, and background pre-employment screenings.

Physical Requirements Travel frequently to customer locations and company events.

Remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer or conducting virtual meetings.

Occasionally lift and carry materials or product samples consistent with business needs with or without accommodations.
