Description & Details:
We are seeking 2 part-time assistants to support routine laboratory animal care and colony management.
Responsibilities include:
* Daily care and monitoring of laboratory mice
* Cage maintenance and routine husbandry
* Animal colony organization and record keeping
* Assisting with routine laboratory animal management under supervision
* Other related laboratory support tasks as assigned
Required Training:
Before beginning paid employment, selected candidates are required to:
* Volunteer in the laboratory for up to one week to complete all required university safety, compliance, and laboratory training.
* Successfully complete any required laboratory orientation before performing assigned duties.
Only candidates who successfully complete the required training and demonstrate the ability to perform the assigned duties will transition to the paid part-time position.
Work Schedule:
* Wednesday mornings (4 hours) are mandatory.
* Additional work hours are flexible and will be scheduled based on laboratory needs.
Employees are only expected to work when assistance is needed.
* Total working hours cannot exceed 15 hours per week
Advertised Pay: $15.00/hour
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must have a complete immunization (immune) record.
* Must not have allergies to laboratory animals (especially mice).
* Reliable, responsible, and willing to follow laboratory protocols.
* Previous animal handling experience is preferred but not required.
* All non-NDSU candidates will be subject to a background check before employment begins.
