DESCRIPTIONTo assist administration and professional staff in maintaining safety and security at all Central Bucks School District (CBSD) school campuses and to work closely with local emergency service agencies on matters related to CBSD Schools.
Under the immediate supervision of the Safety & Security Lead and the District Safety & Security Manager, and the general direction of the assigned School Administrators, the Safety & Security Assistant is responsible to assist administrators, professional staff, and students maintain a safe and secure school environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Through demonstrated professionalism, serve as an active deterrent to potential risks, criminal activity, and mischief. Recognize and respond to changes in normal conditions that may lead to safety or security risks.
- Respond to emergency situations; administer first aid and CPR, within the scope of training. Apprehend and detain people as needed, within the limits specified under the Criminal Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and internal policies and procedures.
- Observe, report and note any safety or hazardous situations or activities.
- Patrol locker rooms, rest rooms, lounges, study halls, stairwells, bus platform, cafeteria and other potential problem areas, including the building's exterior, to discover and address any safety or security issues.
- Observe and report violations of local, state and federal laws to administrators and cooperate with law enforcement to assist in the investigation and possible prosecution.
- Patrol parking lots and school grounds for suspicious or dangerous situations.
- Daily interaction and coordination with School Administrator's as well as other security personnel to discuss safety and security concerns, and inappropriate student behavior. Formulate action plans to resolve problems related to school safety and security concerns.
- Communicate with students regularly about district safety and security issues and provide orientation and assistance to students as needed. Build professional rapport with students and staff.
- Monitor and operate district safety and security technology (i.e. CCTV, access cards, etc.). Ensure proper use and care of district equipment; operate and maintain equipment and vehicles in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Safeguard school district assets, property, equipment and facilities against illegal and destructive acts.
- Ensure appropriate levels of access control are in place during all hours, report any discrepancies and make notifications to individual members of management as may be required.
- Submit written incident reports as needed, for situations occurring on school property. Reports are to be concise, accurate, grammatically correct, and able to be presented for management and/or legal review.
- Abide by all rules, regulations and policies of the Central Bucks School District and the Operations Department.

REQUIREMENTS- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or higher preferred, and training from a State or Municipal law enforcement training academy, contract security, in-house proprietary security, military police, PA Act 235, EMT, and/or comparable Emergency Services training.
- A minimum of one (1) year of full-time employment. Experience in private security, fire,EMS, military, and/or law enforcement is preferred. Experience working with adolescents is beneficial and preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to read and write in English equivalent to a high school graduate.
