General Laborer / Inspector – Fiber Optics
We are seeking a dependable General Laborer / Inspector to support fiber optic construction and installation projects. This position involves hands‑on fieldwork including digging, site prep, inspections, and driving a company vehicle between job sites. Ideal candidates are comfortable working outdoors, have a strong work ethic, and can follow safety and quality standards in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general labor duties on fiber optic construction sites including:
- Shoveling, digging trenches, and site excavation
- Assisting with installation of conduit, cables, handholes, and pedestals
- Preparing and maintaining job sites, including setup, cleanup, and restoration of disturbed areas
- Loading, unloading, and transporting materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites
- Driving company vehicles and safely transporting crew/equipment between locations
- Assisting drill operators and crews with directional boring and underground utility work
- Locating and exposing underground utilities using hand tools or equipment as needed
- Conducting basic inspections of work completed to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with project standards (trenching, conduit placement, restoration, etc.)
- Monitoring job site safety and identifying/reporting hazards or deficiencies
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition
- Following all company, DOT, and OSHA safety guidelines
- High‑level responsibilities and quality checks as outlined above
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous construction, labor, or telecom/fiber experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)
- Ability to operate basic hand tools and work around heavy equipment
- Strong attention to detail for inspection/quality checks
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a crew
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
- Frequent bending, stooping, digging, and standing for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to safely work in construction environments around machinery and traffic
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
