Job Title:
Traffic Control Laborer
This seasonal Traffic Control Laborer role supports roadway and infrastructure projects by performing hands‑on installation and maintenance of traffic control systems and related structures. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, travel with the crew as needed, and assist with tasks such as installing guardrails and permanent signs, setting up traffic control zones, digging holes, and mixing concrete. The position runs from approximately late spring or summer until the ground freezes, typically ending between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and follows a daytime schedule with occasional Saturday work.
Responsibilities- Install guardrails and related hardware according to project specifications and safety standards.
- Install permanent traffic signs, including posts, bases, and mounting hardware.
- Set up, adjust, and remove traffic control zones, including cones, barriers, and signage, to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians around work areas.
- Dig holes for posts, supports, and other structures using hand tools and power tools as required.
- Mix, pour, and finish concrete for sign bases, guardrail posts, and other installations.
- Use shovels, hand tools, and power tools to complete daily tasks safely and efficiently.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and crew leads to complete assigned duties on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, materials, and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment while working outdoors and around traffic.
- Travel with the crew to various job sites, including overnight stays when required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to different job sites and stay overnight when required.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Experience using shovels and other basic hand tools.
- Ability to safely operate basic power tools under supervision.
- Capability and willingness to work 100% outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a field crew.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, roadwork, or traffic control is beneficial.
- Familiarity with installing guardrails, permanent signs, or similar infrastructure is an asset.
- Comfort working in a physically demanding role involving lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work some Saturdays as project needs require.
- Willingness to work in a seasonal position that ends when ground conditions freeze.

WorkEnvironment

This is a seasonal role that continues until ground conditions freeze, generally ending between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The work involves regular use of shovels, hand tools, and power tools, as well as handling materials such as concrete and metal components.
Team members should expect physically demanding tasks, exposure to varying weather conditions, and travel to different job sites, including overnight stays where lodging is provided and a daily per diem is offered.
This is a Contract position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
