Technician, General Facilities Maintenance - Food Equipment

Position Summary

Role Summary Talking Points:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing commercial food equipment; ability to develop and adhere to maintenance schedules; capability to train Store Associates on equipment care and cleaning; competence in managing work orders and maintenance logs; clear, transparent, and respectful communication; adaptability to changing demands; strong teamwork and servant leadership.

• Food Equipment:
  Combi ovens, deli slicers, auto meat cutters, fryers, hot cases, ice makers, pizza ovens, rotisserie ovens, thermoglazers, donut cases, four‑bowl warmers, bakery ovens, bread slicers, tortilla makers.
• Grease and Oil Systems:
  Oil/water separators, used cooking oil tanks.

• Material Handling Equipment Maintenance

• Efficiency:
  Reduced maintenance and repair expenses through effective preventative maintenance and timely repairs.
• Safety:
  Ensured safety and proper functionality of all serviced equipment.
• Training:
  Store Associates are well‑trained in equipment care and cleaning, reducing misuse and damage.
• Documentation:
  Accurate and timely completion of work orders and maintenance logs.
• Customer Satisfaction:
  High levels of customer service and operational efficiency in Walmart stores.
• Food Safety:
  Understanding and limiting the risk of cross contamination in food production areas.

• Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using multiple craft skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and hand, power, and other tools.
• Use the work order management system to receive and document reactive repair work orders supporting stores and associates.
• Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
• Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
• Complete all required training to operate equipment and tools safely.

• 18 years or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Can lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
• Can move up and down ladders frequently
• Comfortable working at heights frequently
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Able to work in varying temperatures
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass an MVR report
• Vocational or technical certification and 1 year of experience, or 2 years total work experience, in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related trade

• Vocational or technical certification and 3 years of experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related trade, OR 5 years of experience in these trades
• Valid driver’s license
• Eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

• Completion of a 2‑year vocational or technical trade program
• License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 – $35.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed, and multiple premiums may apply if criteria are met.
