Responsible to inspect, diagnose and perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repair of diesel semi‑trucks and trailers. Maintains adherence to company safety standards and ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

• Assess the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment maintenance is completed on schedule.
• Meet with supervisor/lead to discuss work orders and priorities, proactively identifying any issues or conditions that might affect equipment operation.
• Utilize maintenance systems to ensure timely and accurate documentation of maintenance and repair work performed.
• Collaborate effectively with other departments as appropriate.

• Perform DOT inspections on tractors.
• Repair and replace air brake components.
• Replace starters, alternators, and batteries.
• Diagnose and repair cooling systems.
• Service suspension components.
• Replace wheel seals and hubs.
• Perform minor electrical diagnostics.
• Service fifth wheels.
• Maintain service records and repair documentation.

• Repair and replace air brake components.

• Repair suspension and axle components.
• Perform trailer DOT inspections.
• Repair trailer electrical systems.
• Maintain service records and repair documentation.

• Service hydraulic liftgates (preferred).
• Diagnose refrigeration performance issues.
• Replace sensors and electrical components.
• Repair starter and charging systems.
• Perform refrigerant leak detection and service.
• Calibrate temperature controls.
• Maintain service records and repair documentation.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) – required.
• 3–5 years of related maintenance experience – required.
• Valid driver’s license – required.
• Must provide and maintain essential mechanic tools and toolbox for daily tasks.
• Required to complete Spartan Nash certification for safe driving skills for material handling equipment, tractors, and trailers – training provided.

Must frequently sit, walk, stand, use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects, tools, or controls, and use both feet for repetitive movements such as operating foot controls. Must frequently walk, talk, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and reach with the hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed.

Employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, day and night hours, and overtime as necessary. Shift length is typically 8–10 hours. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
