Job Overview
Johnson Controls is looking for a skilled HVAC Mechanic to support our fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. The role involves light and heavy commercial HVACR service, partnering with Journeymen on advanced equipment such as centrifuges, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Provide solutions and outcomes on commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Recommend and develop solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Conduct mechanical shaft alignment with dial indicators.
- Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines.
- Collaborate with Servicemen and apprentices and partner with Journeymen on complex repairs.
- Travel to branch customer sites as needed (15%–30%).
- Member of, or willing to join, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.
- Minimum of five (5) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Experience with mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators.
- Ability to use vibration equipment for drumline diagnostics.
- Approval to pass a knowledge examination assessing HVAC proficiencies.
- Valid driver’s license and Universal EPA refrigerants license (or applicable state/local licensing).
- Self‑starter with strong safety prioritization, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Hourly rate of $42, determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
