Installation Specialist

The Installation Specialist safely delivers, sets, and installs granite monuments and memorials at cemeteries throughout the region. This hands-on role combines outdoor work, equipment operation, and detailed craftsmanship to ensure each monument is installed accurately, securely, and with care. The position suits someone dependable and hardworking who enjoys physical work, takes pride in quality results, and wants to grow as a long-term member of a close-knit team.

Responsibilities
  • Load, secure, and transport granite monuments and memorials from the shop to cemeteries and other installation sites using company trucks and trailers.
  • Prepare installation sites by excavating, grading, and constructing concrete foundations when required.
  • Operate boom trucks, hydraulic cranes, A-frame hoists, chain falls, setting straps, and other rigging equipment to safely lift, move, and position heavy granite monuments.
  • Use monument dollies and material handling equipment to maneuver stone safely and efficiently around job sites.
  • Set monument bases and upright memorial sections using specialized stone adhesives, mortar, and monument-setting compounds to ensure stable and durable installations.
  • Use laser levels, measuring tools, and alignment equipment to position monuments accurately so they are straight, level, and aligned with surrounding markers.
  • Perform final adjustments and fine-tuning using hand tools, wedges, and installation equipment to achieve a precise fit and finish.
  • Restore and clean installation sites by back filling with soil, sod, or gravel and ensuring the surrounding area is left in neat, excellent condition.
  • Take clear photographs of completed installations and complete required documentation for records and customer files.
  • Communicate as needed with cemetery sextons and customers to coordinate installation timing and site access in a professional manner.
  • Assist with shop work, including production support, assembly, equipment maintenance, and deliveries when not on installation assignments.
  • Work independently in the field while following safety procedures, time schedules, and route plans to use drive time efficiently.
  • Travel within the service territory, including most of North Dakota and parts of South Dakota and Minnesota, and complete occasional overnight trips as required.
  • Adapt to varying daily schedules with a 7:00 a.m. shop start time and flexible finish times depending on the territory and workload.
  • Work safely and productively in inclement weather conditions when installations are in progress.
  • Follow company standards for quality, professionalism, and customer service on every job.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in construction, concrete work, landscaping, masonry, heavy equipment operation, trucking, manufacturing, or other hands-on trades is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and material handling equipment.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for installation, assembly, and concrete-related tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining safe and efficient work practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship, especially in alignment, leveling, and finishing.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to drive safely and efficiently over long distances.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Ability to regularly lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks such as shoveling and ground digging.
  • Comfort working outdoors in varying and sometimes inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Comfort with frequent driving, with 15 or more hours of drive time per week being common.
  • Reliability in meeting a 7:00 a.m. shop start time and adapting to variable end times based on daily routes and workload.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in stone masonry or commercial construction is beneficial.
  • Experience with concrete mixing, forming, and finishing is an asset.
  • Familiarity with installation, assembly, and general construction practices.
  • Experience operating boom trucks, hydraulic cranes, A-frame hoists, chain falls, and rigging equipment is advantageous.
  • Comfort using laser levels, measuring devices, and alignment tools to achieve precise installations.
  • Experience with augers, excavators, shovels, tampers, and other earthmoving tools is helpful.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with cemetery staff and customers when coordinating installations.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to use drive time and job time efficiently.
  • Willingness to travel within the region, including occasional overnight trips with hotel and per diem provided.
  • Flexibility to work increased hours from May through August, with the potential for upwards of 60 hours per week and overtime.
