Finish Carpentry Crew Lead

This role leads and supports a crew of skilled carpenters on high-end finish carpentry projects in commercial environments. You will coordinate daily activities, ensure high-quality craftsmanship, and help deliver projects on time while working a structured schedule of four 9-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with a half day on Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee a crew of 2–5 carpenters on finish carpentry projects in commercial job sites.
  • Plan and organize daily tasks to ensure projects progress efficiently and meet quality standards.
  • Perform hands-on high-end finish carpentry, setting the standard for workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Guide, mentor, and support crew members to maintain productivity and craftsmanship.
  • Coordinate with other trades and site personnel to ensure smooth workflow on commercial projects.
  • Inspect completed work to verify it meets project specifications and high-end finish requirements.
  • Promote and uphold safe work practices for the crew in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Assist with problem-solving on site, addressing issues related to layout, fit, and finish.
  • Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are used properly and maintained in good working condition.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in finish carpentry, including high-end finish work on commercial job sites.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience directing carpentry crews.
  • Strong ability to organize and manage a crew of 2–5 carpenters on active job sites.
  • Proficiency with tools, techniques, and methods used in finish carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, or specifications related to finish carpentry work.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate tasks and provide clear direction to crew members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on a mix of indoor and outdoor carpentry projects.
  • Prior experience in commercial construction environments with multiple trades on site.
  • Capability to adapt to changing site conditions and project requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions on site.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage time effectively within a structured weekly schedule.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
