This role supports commercial construction projects by performing a wide range of general labor tasks on job sites. You will work primarily Monday through Friday, typically between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with overnight travel being very uncommon. The position involves measuring and cutting materials, using hand tools, and working at heights on commercial sites, including flat roofing environments.
Responsibilities- Perform general labor duties on commercial construction job sites in a safe and efficient manner.
- Measure and cut materials accurately according to project specifications and foreman instructions.
- Use hand tools and other basic construction equipment to complete assigned tasks.
- Work comfortably and safely at heights, including on commercial flat roofs when required.
- Assist the foreman and team members with various tasks to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area on the job site.
- Support the crew in adjusting work schedules as needed due to weather conditions, including working longer days or Saturdays to make up hours.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure quality work.
- Read and interpret measurements and basic instructions to complete work accurately.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Ability to read and understand measurements with accuracy.
- Comfort working at heights on commercial job sites, including roofing environments.
- Strong attention to detail when measuring, cutting, and installing materials.
- Previous construction experience in any discipline.
- Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively.
- Reliability and willingness to work early mornings, full days, and occasional Saturdays.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions within established safety guidelines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Commercial flat roofing experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience working on commercial job sites is an advantage.
- Comfort working as part of a team of 5–6 people led by a foreman.
- Willingness to take direction and learn new tasks on the job.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, year-round workload with varying weekly hours.

WorkEnvironment
This is a fast-paced, year-round outdoor work environment with steady activity in all seasons. In the summer, you can expect to work approximately 50–60 hours per week, while in the winter the schedule typically ranges from 35–45 hours per week. Start times generally fall between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., with workdays ending around 5:00–6:30 p.m., and some Saturdays as needed. You will work outside as part of a crew of about 5–6 individuals led by a foreman, within a larger workforce of around 60 employees year-round and up to 90 during the summer, with openness to seasonal help.
Work pauses during heavy winds and any rainfall for safety, and the team may extend hours or add Saturdays after weather delays to help everyone maintain their expected hours. Overtime is not capped. The dress code requires a shirt with sleeves, safety glasses, and boots, reflecting a strong safety culture on every job site.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
