Pipe Foreman Field Operations - North Dakota About Water Resources Group

Primary Function

The Pipe Foreman leads and directs a crew of pipe fitters, welders, and laborers to install, fabricate, and maintain piping systems on water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct the daily activities of the pipe crew, including pipe fitters, welders, and laborers
  • Plan and sequence pipe installation work to meet project schedule and milestones
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and specifications to guide crew work
  • Ensure the quality of pipe fabrication, installation, and welds meets project specifications and applicable codes
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and other foremen to align pipe work with the overall project schedule
  • Enforce jobsite safety programs and ensure crew compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Track material needs and coordinate with procurement/project management to avoid delays
  • Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety briefings
  • Complete daily reports on crew progress, manpower, and material usage
  • Train and mentor crew members, including apprentices
Educational Background

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Pipefitter apprenticeship program preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum 5-7 years of pipe fitting experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role, required. Experience with water or wastewater treatment plant construction is a plus but not required.

Practical Knowledge
  • Pipe fabrication, installation, and welding standards
  • Reading blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings
  • Crew supervision, scheduling, and coordination
  • Jobsite safety programs and OSHA regulations
Computer Skills Applied

Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and a tablet or mobile device for daily reporting.

Successful Personality Traits

Strong leadership and communication skills, safety-conscious, organized, and able to manage competing priorities under deadline pressure.

Travel

Minimal. Primarily based at the assigned North Dakota job site. May include occasional travel between sites within the region.

Direct Reports

Yes - pipe crew (pipe fitters, welders, laborers); number varies by project.

Reports To

Superintendent.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation range: $40-45, commensurate with experience

Per diem: $100/day

Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and paid holidays.
