About this position

The Lead Service Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and rebuild of agricultural air seeding and precision planting equipment in both shop and field environments. This is a hands‑on role focused on keeping equipment operating reliably and helping customers maximize performance during critical planting seasons.

This role works independently and collaboratively to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high‑quality standard.

In this lead role, the position provides day‑to‑day work guidance, helps set standards for quality, and supports other team members as needed. This role does not have formal supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Requirements

This role requires consistent weekly travel to customer locations to perform field service work. Team members are typically on the road Monday through Thursday, though travel schedules may be extended as needed to support customer demands.

Travel schedules may vary based on customer needs and seasonal demands. This role requires a high level of comfort working in field‑based and travel‑heavy environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose issues and complete repairs on air seeding and precision planting equipment.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble mechanical components and systems.
  • Perform field service work directly at customer locations.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Drive company service vehicles to transport tools, parts, and equipment.
  • Help coordinate daily service work and support team members in completing jobs.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and leadership regarding repair status, priorities, and service needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including inventory usage, pictures, videos, and service records.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high‑quality standard.
  • Maintain accurate and organized work practices.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.

Qualifications
  • Experience working with agricultural or heavy equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems and repair practices.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and general shop equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take initiative and support others in a team‑based environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel weekly for field service work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hands‑on mechanical work.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Agricultural, farming, or equipment‑related experience preferred.
