Position Details:

  • This role includes two layovers per week. Hotel accommodations and a food stipend are provided for layovers.
  • Trained drivers earn $100,000 per year average on component pay program.
  • $12,000 sign on bonus – Terms Apply – Any person who has worked for a Performance Food Group owned company within the last 6 months is not eligible to receive this incentive.

Position Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country's food supply chain. Delivery drivers ensure customers' products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, acting as the face of the company and building lasting customer relationships. Drivers are responsible for operating a tractor‑trail or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and unloading food and related products safely and in accordance with DOT regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
  • Perform all required safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; inspect equipment to ensure it meets company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately report all safety hazards; inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices of products loaded.
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach pre‑loaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are properly locked and/or always secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to driver check‑in and complete necessary paperwork; unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log according to Federal DOT, state and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
  • At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
